We made reservations to take our son here during his Lisbon visit so he could experience a neighborhood Portuguese restaurant and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and help pick a wine and suggested dishes to try. I had the Duck rice which was excellent and we also had seafood rice with great flavor. We liked the decor which has a picture wall of moms, which is a nice touch. We will return.

Very delicious food!!! They also take really good care of allergies. You can take any dish and they will make it fresh without your allergies. Really recommend this restaurant when in Lisbon!! Also, try the tuna tacos. These are out of this world.

It was our second home in Lisbon. The atmosphere was family-friendly, and after trying practically every dish on the menu, we can assure you that they were all delicious. Respect and gratitude from Italy!

It’s hard to put into words just how good this restaurant is. Without exaggeration, this place was the highlight of my family’s trip to Portugal. Every bite was a revelation and the service was warm, helpful, and made us feel like we were welcomed as family. Every aspect of the meal evidenced attention to detail and passion for providing delicious food. The duck rice was richly creamy and warmly comforting with a hearty portion of duck. The octopus was innovative and perfectly tender (paired with candied pears that took this dish to a whole new level). The grilled codfish had a beautiful presentation and variety of textures that made it a complex delicacy. And the grouper in rice had a zing in flavor that made it the perfect cold weather comfort. I am confident that you can’t go wrong with whatever you order here. And finally, another huge shout out to the staff. The manager, Joana, offered delightful recommendations and made us feel at home. And all of the waiters brought humor, professionalism, and care to the dinner. This is not a place to be missed- and in fact is a reason in itself to come to Lisbon. I’m eager for the next visit already!

Everything was so delicious, tasty and accurate! Also the bread, the butter creamy and light like a cloud. The meat of croquettes the best i have ever ate. I have been in Lisbon many times but this has been the best dinner of ever. It worth the trip just for this restaurant. The staff is very kind. Highly recommend. Advised the reservation.

We just experienced the greatest meal in Lisbon on our last night. Recommended by hotel staff the culinary journey left us speechless and gasping at how delicious every bite was. Joana guided us through the menu and painted a picture of what each item was, she was honest and knowledgeable and provided us with just the right information for us to make a decision. The table bread, garlic butter and olives were a great start. The Seafood Pica Pau was literally P E R F E C T I O N. It was a medley of tender shrimp, melt in your mouth octopus and grilled sea bream in a broth with pickled vegetables, the serving was generous, every bite brought excitement for the following bite. The bread served as the perfect way to savour the broth. The Tuna Taco was heaping in portion and in flavour. It was a creamy ‘ceviche’ in a crispy shell offered a tasty balance of fresh tuna sprinkled with lime juice. The Steak was perfectly grilled to medium with just the right amount of salt and fat. It delectably melted in your mouth. The mixed green salad with grilled strawberry was a surprising complement. The fries were pretty much a golden goddess of potato, seasoned with herbs. The fries were crispy and steaming hot and full of rich flavour. I was looking forward to dessert, since everything we tried were near perfection I knew that dessert had to be amazing. The Chocolate Mousse as recommended by Joana was H E A V E N L Y. It was silky and velvety and rich and a contrast to the peanut crunch and sponge topping. Thank you to the team at Mae for taking us through this culinary journey and as the best meal experience in Lisbon and a perfect last meal to our trip.

5/5 Mãe Restaurante makes its intentions clear the moment you step inside: guests come first. The service is gracious without being intrusive, efficient without ever feeling hurried. From the outset, you know you’re in good hands. The kitchen works with remarkable precision - dishes appear at the table almost instantly, and empty plates vanish with such ease that you hardly notice. As for the food itself: bold, confident flavors shaped by the grill, lifted by seasoning that leans into intensity without losing balance. Each element plays in harmony, leaving a meal that lingers well beyond the last bite. Fully worth its price. And then, the matter of reservations. Rumor has it you need to book days in advance. Yet, arriving just as the doors opened, we managed to be seated without one - a small reminder that sometimes chance rewards the hungry.
